Club insider pin-points one major advantage Tottenham have in the race for Manchester United target backed to have a ‘very very bright future’
John Wenham explains one advantage Tottenham have in the race for Eberechi Eze
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham Hotspur News, club insider John Wenham has explained one major advantage Tottenham hold in the race for 26-year-old Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
Eze who is currently on international duty with England in the Euros 2024 has established himself as one of the most exciting players at Crystal Palace along with new Bayern Munich signing Michael Olise.
Despite building a promising project under Oliver Glasner, the Eagles are struggling to keep hold of their star players with Olise leaving for pastures new. There is fear that Eze might be the next one out of the door.
The 26-year-old is garnering interest from the creme de la creme of English football with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham fighting for his signature. It helps that Eze will also aid towards meeting the homegrown quota should any club sign him.
The seven-cap attacking midfielder played 31 times for the Eagles across all competitions last season. In this period, he managed to find the back of the net 11 times and provided a further six assists to his teammates. Palace defender Joel Ward described Eze as a player having a ‘very very bright future’.
Speaking about Tottenham’s chances of signing the Crystal Palace man, here is why the North London club hold an advantage
“Eze can play in numerous positions, and he is a homegrown, Premier League experienced player who wouldn’t need to relocate and would be earning a much higher salary. in addition, he is represented by CAA Base, who represent some of the most high-profile players at Spurs. That offers the club an advantage. Therefore, I could see us signing Eze. You have to be careful not to get blown out of the water by Manchester United, Chelsea or Liverpool. However, Tottenham want him, they have laid the groundwork, and I can see the deal getting done”
Agents play a huge role in our transfer market and having a familiar agency handling Eze’s negotiations gives us an advantage. However, it would be foolish on our part to only back on this and not put the required effort into these negotiations.
Eze is the kind of player Postecoglou would love to have. He is someone like Dejan Kulusevski, who can play on either wing and also as the #10. Stylistically though, he is very different to the Swede winger.
Spurs manage to convince Eze to come to the N17, it’ll be a huge coup. It remains to be seen if we can pull it off but it will be worth every minute we spend in these negotiations. Let’s see how it goes.
