Dejan Kulusevski has described Richarlison as an ‘unbelievable player’ and backed the Brazilian to deliver in the number nine role this season.
However, the forward’s first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium did not go according to plan as he struggled for regular starts, picked up a couple of injuries, and finished the campaign with just one Premier League goal to his name.
Richarlison will be hoping to showcase his best this campaign, with the striker now having been given the responsibility of leading the line after Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich.
Kulusevski thinks Richarlison will shine as a nine
The former Everton man endured a frustrating afternoon at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday as he was largely feeding off scraps, but Kulusevski is in no doubt that the striker will deliver plenty of goals this season.
The Swede told The Athletic about Richarlison: “I think he was hungry also last year but you’ve got to play players in their favourite positions.
“You’ve got to make them feel comfortable and I think Richy is an unbelievable player in the opponent’s area. He’s just got to stay close to the goal and he will score a lot of goals, I’m 100 per cent sure.
We already saw that in Brazil. So we’ve just got to get him close to the goal and feed him with crosses and passes.”

Richarlison will score plenty of goals in a Postecolgou side but the thing to note about the Brazilian is that he always contributes a lot even if he does not find the back of the net.
His tireless pressing and his ability to hold up the ball and win fouls make him a huge asset to the side. He also constantly looks to stretch the opposition’s backline by making runs in behind.
