Paul Merson confident of Chelsea handing Tottenham Hotspur a defeat tonight

Tottenham Hotspur host Chelsea in the Premier League tonight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino set to return to his former club for the first time since he was sacked in November 2019.
Spurs are the only team yet to lose in the league this term and Chelsea will be desperate to end that run on Monday night.
The Blues have struggled under Pochettino since he took over in the summer, with just three wins to their name in ten league games so far.
Nevertheless, Paul Merson believes Chelsea will leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with at least a point, insisting he would be shocked if Ange Postecoglou’s side win in front of their home supporters.
“I’m very confident for Chelsea on Monday night,” Merson said on Sky Sports.
“I’d be very shocked if they lost. I go to the games. I would. The North London derby, I can’t help Jesus booting the ball over the bar from seven yards.
“If that goes in, God knows what the score is going to be.
“I’m quite confident. Chelsea are a much better team when teams come out. Blackburn came out last week. Against Arsenal, they were a much better team against Arsenal that night.”
Spurs have played a different and exciting style of football under Postecoglou since the Greek-Australian took over in the summer, and Merson believes that would play into the hands of Chelsea.
The Blues drew 2-2 with Arsenal and won 2-0 against Blackburn Rovers, and the former Gunners star believes it was because both teams did not park the bus.
Spurs will be playing their normal attacking style tonight as they look to return to the top of the Premier League table, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against a Chelsea side that is prepared to also attack.
Given their styles of play, both teams will have ample chances to score at the other end, and it could be down to who converts the most goalscoring chances.
