For Crystal Palace, the terrible start to this season means work must be done both on the pitch and in terms of recruitment.
Next Monday will see Oliver Glasner take his Eagles side to the City Ground, as the search for a first Premier League win this season after seven games.
The game sees 18th-place Crystal Palace take on 10th-place Nottingham Forest, with the Eagles in desperate need of a win.Relegation concerns are growing despite the feeling from many that Crystal Palace have too much quality to be relegated.
Glasner is thinking of shaking things up with formation changes, and now a potential 2025 swoop for a Premier League ace has been suggested according to reports.Dougie Freedman is considering Antony move
One of the Eagles’ biggest problems this season has been the lack of Michael Olise replacement with no left-footed right-winger signed – and it has messed with the automatisms that Glasner had been developing last season.
But now, it’s been reported that Manchester United’s Antony could be an option in 2025.
This comes according to Caught Offside who explains that the Brazilian winger is likely to look for a move away from Old Trafford in the new year as his role in Erik ten Hag’s side has diminished significantly.
In this event, there are a few options of destination for the ‘outstanding’ winger who cost United £86m with one being Crystal Palace.
Newcastle and Ajax are tipped as challengers for the Eagles’ pursuit with all three considering a move for the winger who needs a change.
Despite the fee he cost the Red Devils, Antony is likely to cost significantly less, perhaps even as low as £20m.
Where Antony ranks in Crystal Palace’s quickest players
Signing Antony would be a risk considering how he has struggled in England over the past two years, but there is absolutely a player there if Glasner can extract his ability.
Like Olise, Antony has a lethal left foot and needs direction from a coach like Glasner in order to fulfil his potential. He has proven he can perform as he impressed in his opening games for United.
Antony is also rapid in terms of his speed, with a top speed of 35.29 km/h – this is quicker than Eddie Nketiah who has a top speed of just 32.2 km/h.
This is not as quick as Ismaila Sarr, but Antony would instantly be among the quickest currently at the club.
