TAIWO AWONIYI SENDS A MESSAGE TO NOTTINGHAM FOREST’S COACH NUNO ESPIRITO SANTOForest provided the shock result of the season so far when they took all three points from their game against Liverpool at Anfield.
However, the Reds did suffer their first defeat of the season last weekend when Fulham came to the City Ground.
Their home form has been their weakness so far this season with just two points taken from a possible nine.
Taiwo Awoniyi speaks in public about his lack of game time at Nottingham Forest this season

Nottingham Forest may have shocked a number of people with their positive start to the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds may well have been one of the pundits’ favourites to go down this season but Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side have shown a lot to be optimistic about so far.

And there is already one player who feels he should be getting more minutes than he currently is.Taiwo Awoniyi issues Nuno Espirito Santo message

One of the bright sparks in Forest’s side this season has been Chris Wood with the New Zealand international providing a return of four league goals.
As a result, Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has not had much of a sniff in the Forest side under Nuno.
Across the opening seven games, the £17.5m Awoniyi has only come off the bench four times having racked up a mere 78 minutes of football. And he has now spoken to Nigerian outlet Brila, where he has spoken about his desire to play in the starting XI under Nuno.
“Football is a game of opinion, I’m not new at Nottingham forest this is my third year there I’m not new,” Awoniyi said. “
And when it comes playing time and every player has the way things should be done.
“Everyone has there opinion, I have seen a lot of DMs saying, ‘Taiwo, why aren’t you playing at Nottingham? Are you injured?’ But in football, everyone has there opinion.
“As for me, I’m okay to play, and if others think I’m not okay, that is also their opinion.”

Chris Wood cannot be uprooted from Forest XI

It will be great for Forest fans to see Awoniyi so eager to return to the starting XI under Nuno, but he simply cannot take Wood’s spot in the side currently.
The New Zealand was in fine form last season and he has taken that form into the new term which has helped Forest towards their impressive start.
Awoniyi has not had it easy at Forest with his impressive form at the start of last season being disrupted through injury.
And since then he has been unable to rediscover his form with Wood taking his spot in the starting XI.
The message to Nuno is clear but Awoniyi is going to have to show it on the pitch to win over the Portuguese manager.
