Ange Postecoglou will be under pressure from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy if Spurs miss out on the Champions League, according to Alasdair.
Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League, ahead of arsenal’s only on goal difference but Postecoglou’s side have a game in hand over Unai Emery’s Villans, meaning they are currently in the driving seat.
In the midst of the race for Champions League football, Levy has confirmed that Spurs are in talks with potential new investors after the North London club revealed their latest set of financial accounts.
While that could spark some major off-the-field change at Tottenham, Hutton insists that Levy and any new investors will continue to back Postecoglou this summer and help him bring in the targets he wants in the transfer window.
“Ange has done brilliantly this season,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
He has changed the whole style of play and for me, taken them to the next level, but I think he was always going to be under pressure to win a trophy, whatever it may be and finish in the top four. I think that is the least that the chairman would want.
If he doesn’t make it, it would be disappointing, but I don’t think it would change where he is at the club at this moment in time. It could impact what type of player they can go for if they don’t have the Champions League so that might be a problem.
It’s all going to come down to recruitment. Can you make the right decisions? Can you get the right players that are going to take you to the next level? Look at Chelsea, just because they spent a billion pounds, it doesn’t make them an unbelievable football team.
We know where they are at this moment in time. It’s about making the right choices in the right areas of the pitch and Ange has done an incredible job up to now so I’m sure Daniel Levy will have his trust in him.”

Most pundits and supporters are in agreement that Postecoglou has managed to completely rejuvenate Spurs in his first season at the club. Despite a slightly mixed bag of results, he has made immeasurable progress on and off the field.
Even if new investors arrive in North London and change the way in which Spurs are run, while Levy is at the club, it seems likely Postecoglou will remain as well, unless another club manage to poach him under Tottenham’s nose.
Hopefully, the Australian won’t have to worry anyway as it seems likely that his side will book their place in Europe’s premier competition next term, as long as they manage to avoid any late slip-ups.
