With less than two weeks to go until the new Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur have work to do in the transfer market.

Ange Postecogolou has welcomed some very exciting 18-year-olds to the club this summer, the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray – two midfielders with exceptional potential.

However, it’s up for debate whether the duo will significantly raise the level of Postecoglou’s first eleven immediately.

Although Dejan Kulusevski has lauded Bergvall’s potential, he recently admitted that his compatriot will need patience and time.

Gray does have a more immediate claim for first team minutes, but will also need careful treatment after making such a big leap in his career.

And in a summer in which Tottenham have let Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave, Spurs could end up looking a little light on experience in the middle.

Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur will once again be competing for Postecoglou’s starting roles, but one more addition would seem appropriate.

However, it doesn’t seem as if Postecoglou’s ‘dream’ target, Chelsea’s Conor Gallager, will be that man.

Over the past year or so, reports of Tottenham chasing Gallagher have refused to go away, a player who has been deemed the perfect profile for Postecoglou’s football.

However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Englishman is now La Liga bound.

Romano shared several updates overnight, initially saying that Gallagher had finally made the decision to leave Chelsea permanently.

And then the journalist later stated that Gallagher actually rejected two offers from Premier League clubs in the eleventh hour, deciding that he only wanted a Chelsea stay or Atletico.

Romano shared: “More on Conor Gallagher and Atletico Madrid.

“Two PL clubs tried to enter the race but Gallagher considered two options: sign new two-year deal at Chelsea or join Atletico.

“Proposal accepted tonight on contract valid until June 2029, waiting for formal steps later today.”

course, this may transpire as a considerable blow for Tottenham and Postecoglou who could possibly have been one of the interested English sides mentioned.

In that regard, Aston Villa have also shown interest in Gallagher, perhaps the other club who tried to rival Atletico’s move.

But either way, there’s work for Johan Lange to do before the end of August, and Spurs’ first eleven needs to see an improvement.

Tottenham are close to bringing in more funds to potentially the squad with a £12.7m sale now in the final stages.

Spurs are looking to do business both in terms of incomings and outgoings before the season starts and there are a number of moving parts at play.
