Tottenham Hotspur fans have been crying out for their club to make a big-name signing this summer, and Eze would certainly fit that bill.
And while Eze would thrive under an attacking manager like Ange Postecoglou, the lack of UEFA Champions League football on offer in north London may hurt the Lilywhites’ chances of signing the England international.
And thanks to his incredible talent and the rather reasonable £60m release clause attached to his current deal at Selhurst Park, it’s easy to see why.
Tottenham are the 5/6 favourites to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
Eze’s 23/24 season delivered 11 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League appearances with his performances particularly eye-catching following the arrival of Oliver Glasner as their head coach.
His form led to a call-up for England’s Euro 2024 campaign, featuring in wins over Serbia, Slovakia and Switzerland as the Three Lions made the final.
Ange Postecoglou has already welcomed Archie Gray from Leeds into his squad for a significant £40million fee, while Lucas Bergvall has also joined from Swedish outfit Djurgården.
They are still on the hunt for further recruits though, with the Spurs boss urging their fans to be patient when it comes to recruits.
“At this time of year it’s pretty hard for supporters because they don’t have all the information and it’s fair to say there’s plenty of misinformation out there,” Postecoglou told the media.
“We’re working hard to bring players in and it’s a process that you sometimes have to be patient with. But in terms of what we set out to do, that’s still the plan and you have to stay disciplined with that.”
“Sometimes the timings don’t work out and it doesn’t happen as quickly as you want and you don’t get them (players) in at the right time but I think it’s really important you stay disciplined and not run off and chase other things.”
Tottenham are in talks with the agent of Eberechi Eze to sign him ahead of Manchester City, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Lilywhites are looking to rebuild their squad after narrowly missing out on Champions League football, with Ange Postecoglou pushing for reinforcements to take the side to the next level.
Crystal Palace star Eze has risen to the top of their target list after his performances last season, and the north London club are in talks to get a deal over the line ahead of a host of competition from rival Premier League clubs.
Tottenham Open Talks With Eze Agent
Spurs are not alone in their pursuit to sign Eze, who has a £60million release clause written into his contract at Selhurst Park for this summer.
According to Romano “all the big clubs” in the Premier League are monitoring the attacking midfielder’s situation, with Manchester City having a long-standing interest in the former Queens Park Rangers star and Tottenham in constant contact with Eze’s agents.
