Tanguy Ndombele could be in line to exit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for good this summer as Spurs look to part with the big-money signing

Tottenham have already made some decisions this summer when it comes to planning for the 2024/25 season and beyond. A very important few months for the club as they look to add even more quality to Ange Postecoglou’s squad in their quest to challenge for major honours, the deals Spurs finalise between now and the end of August will have a big say on how their season pans out.

Postecoglou has very much stamped his own mark on the club since his arrival from Celtic last June and he is now continuing to transform his playing squad to help him achieve his big ambitions in N17. With clubs confirming their retained and released lists last week, Spur announced that japhet Tang anga and Ryan sessegon would be two of the player’s to exit Tottenham Hotspur stadium once those current deal expire at the end of June.

Tottenham did have the option to extend both players’ contracts by a further year but they opted against doing so. The decisions very much highlight a sense of ruthlessness when it comes to reshaping the squad and planning for the future.

Some other big decisions need to be made at the club this summer in order for Postecoglou to be left with a group of players he believes can go on and bring some much-needed silverware to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. One of those calls facing the Lilywhites is in regards to Tanguy Ndombele

Signed from Lyon in the summer of 2019 in a deal worth £59.5million in today money (€60million with in center which could reach as high as £10million), the beginning of July will mark the start of the final year of Ndombele’s contract in the capital. However, he may not even enter the final 12 months of his contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium amid reports from France late on Saturday evening that stated Spurs are set to release the midfielder a year early and allow him to leave on a free transfer.

Whereas in a perfect world Tottenham would be able to sell Ndombele this summer and bring in a fee for him, the 27-year-old’s form over the past few seasons has meant that was always going to be a struggle. Not even a temporary loan move back to former club Lyon saw an improvement in his game, with Ndombele going on to have further underwhelming loan spells with Napoli and Galatasaray.

The Longjumeau-born player won league titles with his last two loan clubs but he played an extremely bit-part role in their success. For Galatasaray this season, Ndombele played 454 minutes across 19 league outings – which works out at a measly 23.9 minutes per appearance – and he also made a further seven appearances in cup competitions for the Turkish giants.

Ndombele’s stock is so low at the moment and that shouldn’t be the case at all given the undoubted talent that he has in the locker. The former France international has wowed fans aplenty with his skill, quick feet and ability to beat his opponent but the lack of consistency in his game and his inability to fully utilise his talent has left his previous managers incredibly frustrated.
