has ended and Liverpool and Tottenham have reason to be disappointed
Virgil van Dijk’s side were in contention for the quarter-final title, but poor results in April saw them eliminated from the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup
Tottenham, on the other hand, have been aiming for the top four and that seems easily achievable
However, just two wins in their last seven matches have kept them fifth
A lot of players are currently focused on the European Championship in Germany, which is expected to start in mid-June

Besides the Liverpool captain, it is likely that Tottenham’s Van de Ven will start in defense after being called up by Ronald Koeman on Wednesday
The Tottenham defender took to Instagram to celebrate the big news following his announcement

“A boy’s dream,” he wrote

Van de Ven could play in another position at Euro Van de Ven has only played two matches for the Netherlands
Both are alternative occurrences
The first was a 10-minute spell against France as a centre-back in October, while the second was against Greece a few days later – in which he played at left-back
The Netherlands have Van Dijk, Stefan de Vrij, Matthijs de Ligt, Nathan Ake and Daley Blind in their squad – all of whom can play in the center of defense
This could force Van de Ven to play at left-back or left-back instead of his natural centre-back position
The £43m Dutchman (Sky Sports) could certainly play there – he did so for Tottenham in his last two Premier League games against Manchester City and Sheffield United
