“Bunch of clowns and tactless players” Roy Keane slams Spurs defenders and revealed why they are the poorest defenders after their aggression in the first half which paved way for Liverpool to trash them.

Tottenham Hotspur defenders Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal had to be separated during half-time as they trailed against Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur defensive duo Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal were involved in an altercation as they went in at half-time against Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s side put the North London club under immense pressure in the first-half taking a two-goal lead into the second-half.

Mohamed Salah returned to the scoresheet with a near-post header before Andy Robertson doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time. The Merseyside club enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and the Spurs goal were under siege for most of the opening 45

Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold enjoyed particular defensive freedom down the right-hand side but the hosts were largely thwarted by Guglielmo Vicario. The 27-year-old had to step in to be peacemaker as his two team-mates clashed, hauling Romero away from the Brazilian defender.

But they should have that type of aggression in their defending and in their play. Spurs have been very very poor. I don’t mind that, but you have to bring that kind of aggression in their general play, which we have not seen from Spurs.”

Royal was involved shortly after the restart as he was dispossessed by Harvey Elliott in the build-up to Liverpool’s third. Cody Gakpo rose highest over Romero to net his seventh Premier League of the season.
