Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has revealed the club have a buy-back clause to re-sign Harry Kane after he joined Bayern Munich this summer.
Kane, 30, moved to the European giants in a deal worth a reported £100million this summer, with no suggestion of any buy-back clause at the time.
The England international spent two decades at Spurs after joining the club as a boy and in a heartwarming video message to supporters, he hinted at a future reunion in north London, saying: “It’s not a goodbye, because you never know how things pan out in the future… I’ll see you soon.”
Meanwhile, Levy has since added fuel to speculation that he could return after he confirmed that he had inserted a buy-back clause into the striker’s contract at Bayern.
Speaking at a fan forum on Tuesday, alongside manager Ange Postecoglou, new captain Heung-min Son, women’s head coach Robert Vilahamn and Lioness Bethany England, Levy claimed (quotes via Evening Standard): “There is a buy-back clause,” refusing to elaborate on the situation further.
Kane, meanwhile, heaped praise on his old club in a recent press conference, stating: “I’ll keep an eye on Tottenham for the rest of my life.
“I’m really happy to see the team playing the way they are and to see the fans happy is a great thing. They’ve got a massive game coming up [Arsenal on Sunday] so, for sure, I’ll see how they get on over the course of the season.”
