Fans and coach left in confusion as Kevin De Bruyne gives clear verdict on Tottenham premier League race

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has now commented on Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of winning the Premier League title.

Whilst Ange Postecoglou’s side have made brilliant progress this season, it almost felt as if a difficult night against Chelsea in November could have curtailed their title challenge before it really got going.

In the same game, Spurs lost Micky van de Ven and James Maddison to long-term injuries, and Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero to suspension.

It was an incredible blow.

Postecoglou’s side did react very well, the likes of Ben Davies proved their worth to Spurs’ future.

But perhaps the title now isn’t at the forefront of Tottenham players’ minds, rather a place back in the Champions League.

That being said, Kevin De Bruyne certainly wasn’t going to rule Tottenham out of the title race just yet.

The City midfielder spoke to Standard Sportafter beating Brentford last night, and said that Spurs were definitely still in a five-horse race.

Whilst De Bruyne named Liverpool and Arsenal his biggest threats, he was hesitant to rule out Aston Villa or Tottenham.

De Bruyne said: “There are so many teams there. Liverpool and Arsenal are there with us, but I’d say even Villa and Tottenham are close.

“We will be fighting with five for the moment. There’s a little pressure anyway to do well, but there’s no point looking at what’s going to happen in two months.
