“Contact made and agreement reached”,Tottenham set to splash another huge amount on a player who scored 13goal in 9 matches to replace Timo Werner who fans called “worst signing”

Ben Jacobs has said that Timo Werner has not been signed as a potential Harry Kane replacement, claiming that Tottenham would want to sign a traditional centre-forward next summer

Werner’s arrival now gives Ange Postecoglou a lot more options, with the German international adept at playing across the front three.

Spurs certainly needed the extra firepower upfront, considering that they are set to be without their captain and talisman, Son Heung-min, for several more weeks.

Once Son returns from the Asian Cup, the German international might have to compete with Richarlison for the number nine role but Jacobs believes that the former Chelsea man has not been signed to fill the centre-forward role.

Spurs will only replace Harry Kane in the summer

The journalist suggested that Tottenham are expected to enter the market next summer for a striker in Kane’s mould.

He said on The Done Deal Show: “I don’t think we can call Werner a Kane replacement at all, because they are very different and I think that in the summer Tottenham will still be looking to, in inverted commas, replace Kane, because Kane is irreplaceable, but you’re looking for someone in that Kane type model.”

Spurs have continued to be linked with a whole host of number nines in recent weeks, including Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez (Mirror), Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy (TEAMtalk) and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke (The Sun)
