Tottenham on the verge of losing their star player who scored 5goals in two match to premier league rival

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is being chased by London rivals Brentford, and they are “advancing in talks” to sign him, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. 

Brentford are looking the sign the 27-year-old full-back on loan, but there are other clubs as well who are equally interested in signing him.

Romano says that a loan deal is close to being agreed and that talks are at final stages. Brentford are waiting for Reguilon’s decision.

“Brentford are advancing in talks to sign Sergio Reguilón. Loan deal close to being agreed with Tottenham, at the final stages. Discussions will follow on player side, waiting for Reguilón decision as several clubs are interested,” wrote Romano on X.

Exit on the cards

While Reguilon has a contract at the north London club until 2025, he is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans. Ideally, Spurs would like to sell him permanently, which they could do next summer, but right now, they are looking to send him away on loan.

He joined Spurs in a £32million deal from Real Madrid in 2020 but has become surplus to requirements. Destiny Udogie has established himself as a key player under Postecoglou while Ben Davies can play in the left-back role as well

Reguilon joined Manchester United on loan at the start of the season mainly as a cover for Luke Shaw. However, he made seven starts under Erik ten Hag, but United decided to let him return to his parent club instead.

With Ryan Sessegnon having returned to training after a long injury lay-off, Postecoglou can afford to axe him from his immediate plans.

Brentford are in need to bolster their full-back areas. They have lost Rico Henry to a serious knee injury while Aaron Hickey is also out after suffering a significant hamstring in November. As it stands, it looks like the Spaniard will be on his way out of the club this monthly very shortly.
