Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on the prospect of Chelsea selling Conor Gallagher to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The former Liverpool star and Sky Sports pundit is not all impressed by the Chelsea bosses.
Jamie Carragher comments on Tottenham Hotspur – Chelsea – Conor Gallagher rumour
Well, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Conor Gallagher from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The Italian reporter has claimed on his website that Spurs are trying to get a deal done for £40 million. Chelsea are reportedly willing to cash in on the 23-year-old England international midfielder in the middle of the season.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 36 points from 19 matches.
Spurs are a point behind defending champions and fourth-placed Manchester City, who have played 18 games.Chelsea are now 10th in the Premier League table with 25 points from 19 games.
Chelsea’s loss would be Tottenham’s gain
In my view, Conor Gallagher would be a brilliant signing for Tottenham Hotspur. If Spurs are able to get a deal done for £40 million, then they should do it. Head coach Ange Postecoglou personally wants him.
Gallagher has been one of the best and most important players for Chelsea. The dynamic midfielder is flourishing under head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The 23-year-old has given four assists in 18 Premier League matches for Chelsea this season. Gary Lineker has been impressed.
Spurs are aiming to finish in the top four of the league table this season. I believe that Gallagher’s dynamism, ability to impose himself in the middle of the park, drive the team forward, and work ethic would make Spurs a better team in midfield.
