Dejan Kulusevski’s shirt pull on Danny Welbeck saw Tottenham concede a penalty at Brighton in what was a torrid trip to the south coast.
But whilst Seagulls fans were cheering VAR’s decision to award them a spot-kick to put them 2-0 up inside half an hour of the clash, Everton fans over 200 miles away were left confused.
Welbeck tried to battle for the ball in the box, but Kulusevski recklessly decided to cling on to the Brighton star’s shirt, leading VAR to intervene and give the home side a penalty.
Joao Pedro went on to score his seventh penalty in as many spot-kicks to double his side’s advantage, whilst Kulusevski picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
That means he’ll miss Spurs’ clash against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.
However, away from the drama at the AMEX, Everton fans have been left asking why Kulusevski wasn’t punished for a shirt pull on Amadou Onana in the penalty area in Spurs’ 2-1 win over the Toffees on December 23.
