Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a goal controversially disallowed against Tottenham today in the 3pm kick offs.

The Toffees were trying to fight their way back into the game after going 2-0 down against Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Once again, it was another talking point away from the actual football. And even former referee Mike Dean appeared to be in agreement about how bad a call it was.

Speaking on Sky Sports about the incident, Dean conceded that there just wasn’t enough in it for a foul to be given.

“It’s a small contact but not enough to overturn it. It is minimal contact. It’s very, very soft,” Dean said.

VAR dominating too many games

This season was meant to see an improvement in all things VAR and officials wise but it just seems to be getting worse.

Every single game there seems to be a big call and when you have ones like this today where even Mike Dean is criticising it, then you know it’s going wrong.

The Everton players were rightfully annoyed with this one and no doubt we’ll be seeing it micro analysed from pundits and the like all weekend now. Indeed, it will be interesting to hear what Sean Dyche has to say on the matter as well!

Tottenham definitely got away with one here. And in the end, it proved massive in helping them to another huge three Premier League points.
