“Outstanding”sky sports pundit called out on 26-year-old Tottenham player who amazed them unexpectedly

Alan Smith has suggested that James Maddison was outstanding in Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Fulham, claiming that the visitors could not get near him on Monday night.

Smith was speaking on Sky Sports(broadcast on 23/10; 21:25) after the 26-year-old bagged his first goal at his new home by doubling Tottenham’s lead against Marco Silva’s side.
Tottenham fans could not wished for James Maddison to make a better start to life with the club. He went into the second international break of the campaign top of the assist charts in the Premier League. And he was at it again on Monday.

The England international set up Son Heung-min for the opening goal. And he scored Tottenham’s second goal of the evening, with a very composed finish after being played in by Son.

James Maddison lauded after Tottenham win

Maddison has taken little to establish himself as Tottenham’s talisman following his summer switch from Leicester City. And that he showed that again on Monday, often demanding the ball and trying to make things happen.

“Maddison has been outstanding this evening, Fulham haven’t been able to get near him,” he told Sky Sports.

“Surely if he keeps up this form he will easily make England’s squad for next year’s Euros.”

Spurs definitely threatening to silence those who doubt their title race credentials

It will be interesting to see at what point Tottenham are considered title contenders. Right now, they lead the way in the Premier League by two points. And they remain unbeaten.

Depth may be a concern. Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie both came off during the second-half. And that may be a worry for Ange Postecoglou.

But clearly, they have the kind of quality in attack to give anyone in the league a game. Son is amongst the top goalscorers following his superb return to form. Meanwhile, Maddison has had such a massive impact since his move in the summer.

They are forming an amazing understanding. And thus, Tottenham have to be taken seriously sooner rather than later.
