“Reliable” ever since Tottenham signed the new boy I become a fan of spur…Tottenham must be considered premier league title contender

Ian Wright insists Tottenham must be considered Premier League title contenders based on their early season form.

New manager Ange Postecoglou has transformed the mood around the ailing north London club and helped foster a team spirit that has yielded five wins and two draws from his seven games at the helm.

The former Celtic boss has made light of the summer departure of Harry Kane and rejuvenated the likes of Son Heung-min, while the additions of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario have all proved to be shrewd acquisitions.

Saturday’s late victory over Liverpool carried an air of good fortune given the controversy surrounding Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal, but another three points has only served to strengthen the belief that Postecoglou’s squad is capable of exceeding expectations.
And while Arsenal are considered to be Manchester City’s main challengers this season, Wright has urged Spurs to take inspiration from Leicester’s unlikely 2016 title success in their bid to upset the established order.
Wright told Premier League Productions: ‘Carry on doing what they’re doing, nobody was expecting Tottenham at the start of the season, especially with a new manager, to be doing what they’re doing.
