Ange Postecoglou says he is loving the challenge of making Tottenham Hotspur competitive again and bringing success to the North London club.
When Postecoglou was announced as Antonio Conte’s successor, it is fair to say that a section of the Spurs fan base was quite underwhelmed, with the hashtag ‘#NoToAnge’ even trending on social media prior to the confirmation of his arrival (The Sun).
However, in less than a couple of months, the Australian has seemingly already won over the vast majority of fans, thanks to the way he speaks in interviews and the attacking style of football that he is evidently trying to implement at the club.
Postecoglou perhaps comes across as quite a calm figure compared to the enthusiastic characters that preceded him in Jose Mourinhoand Antonio Conte.

However, the 57-year-old insisted that he is enthralled by the challenge that lies in front of him, insisting that there is nowhere else he would rather be at the moment.
The Tottenham head coach told the Men in Blazers podcast (as transcribed by Football.London): “I love this bit. I love the new challenge.
“I love walking into a place and it’s something probably unique to me that I don’t take a group of staff with me so I literally walk in by myself into these massive football clubs. I love the energy that brings to me.
“I have to make sure that all my senses are super alert to listen and hear everything that goes on and to see everything that I need to see to make the decisions I need to make and then to get people to believe in me.
“So you engage with as many people as possible and it was no different here. Obviously, the magnitude of this football club is bigger than any other I’ve had before so there are more people and saying ‘mate’ gets me around a lot of things because learning the names is almost impossible.
“Again it’s about trying to create as many connections as I can. I love it. It’s so different here. There’s some fantastic footballers here, great staff, the training ground and the stadium are just world-class.
“There’s no place on earth I would rather be than right here in this minute trying to bring success to one of the biggest football clubs in the world.”

One cannot underestimate how important it is for the manager to say the right things in the media in order to create unity among the fan base, particularly in the modern-day media environment, where every single quote of the head coach is reproduced and analysed on social media.
One of the issues during the Conte era and the final few months of the Mourinho era, was the kind of confrontational and self-serving statements those managers were making.
That led to a divide among the fan base, which in turn filtered through and create a toxic atmosphere at the stadium and around the club.
