Is it no too much for him??

Premier League champions Manchester City will reportedly submit a bid worth €110 million for 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Frenkie de Jong is the subject of interest from Manchester City. And the Premier League champions are ready to offer €110 million to sign the 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder. Pep Guardiola has personally requested his signing after losing out on Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.

Frenkie de Jong has been one of the best performers for Barcelona since arriving from Ajax in July 2019. A pivotal figure for his club and country, the Dutch international has overcome obstacles to become a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Blaugrana. But his Barcelona future remains uncertain amid the club’s never-ending financial woes.

The 26-year-old has turned out 183 times for Barcelona, chipping in with 15 goals and 21 assists. In addition, de Jong has made over 50 appearances for the Netherlands. But considering he remains Barcelona’s most highly-valued asset, the player’s future is uncertain. And Manchester City will look to secure his services in the summer transfer window,

Pep Guardiola has been keen on bolstering the Manchester City midfield this summer. The Premier League champions have lost Ilkay Gundogan, who has completed a Bosman move to Barcelona. In addition, Bernardo Silva faces an uncertain future at the Etihad, as he wants to embark on a new adventure.

Manchester City will thus look to sign a top-class midfielder in the ongoing transfer window. And they were keen on signing Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice ahead of the 2023/24 season. But while Bellingham has joined Real Madrid, Rice is on the verge of moving to Arsenal.

Frenkie de Jong has thus emerged as a viable alternative to both Rice and Bellingham. And the Premier League champions are willing to offer €110 million to secure the Dutchman’s services. Such a bid will make it very hard for Barcelona to turn down, considering the financial turmoil at the club.

But it is unclear if de Jong will be ready to leave Barcelona anytime soon. The 26-year-old has repeatedly said he is happy and content at Camp Nou. So Manchester City might have an uphill task convincing the Dutch international to seal a summer move.
