Embarrassing moment as Levy “BLASTS” Conte during Postecoglu introduction at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy seemed to aim more than a few pointed comments in the direction of Antonio Conte when explaining why he chose Ange Postecoglu.

Levy presented new coach Postecoglu to the Fan Advisory Board and his description felt like the complete reverse of what he saw from Conte.

“We made a conscious decision that we wanted a coach who would understand what we really wanted as a club, which was to play attacking football, to enable everyone to enjoy coming to a match and be entertained, and also someone who understood the importance of the academy.”

It is the latest chapter in the ugly split between Conte and Tottenham, particularly between the coach and the chairman.

The Spurs chief had been lambasted by Conte when the Italian terminated his contract by mutual consent in March, following the Champions League Round of 16 exit to Milan without scoring a single goal over two legs.

Conte blamed Levy for the on-going lack of success at the club, noting that if the same issues kept coming around with different players and coaches, the problem had to be at the top.

Postecoglu has signed a four-year contract, while so far Conte has not been heavily linked with any new role.
