Journalist Rudy Galetti has confirmed Tottenham’s plan of hijacking 26-year-old Laliga star from Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Villarreal defender Pau Torres.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for the Spanish club and he has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

Journalist Rudy Galetti has now confirmed to Give Me Sport that the defender is being followed by Tottenham and Juventus ahead of the summer transfer window.

“The Spanish player, whose contract will expire in 2024, in fact, is also followed by some teams in Europe, including Tottenham and Juventus, even if the non-football situation forced the Bianconeri at the moment to put all their evaluation on the market on hold.”

Spurs will have to find a quality partner for Cristian Romero and the Spanish international defender could prove to be a superb acquisition.

Torres has proven himself for club and country and he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League as well.

Tottenham have been quite vulnerable at the back this season and they will need to improve in that department in order to compete for trophies next year.

It remains to be seen whether they can agree on a deal with Villarreal.

The defender has proven himself in the Spanish league and he could be open to accepting a new challenge at this stage of his career.

Torres is entering the peak years of his career and he will want to test himself at a high level. The opportunity to play in the Premier League could be an attractive option for the 26-year-old defender.

Apart from his defensive quality, the Spaniard is an excellent passer from the deep and he will help Tottenham build from the back.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs can beat the competition from clubs like Juventus and secure his services.
