‎Positive Twist in Rangers’ Striker Injury Saga

Rangers have been handed a timely Champions League boost with the news that Cyriel Dessers could be fit to face Club Brugge in next week’s play-off clash.

‎The Nigerian striker was forced off in the second half of Tuesday’s qualifier against Viktoria Plzen with what initially looked like a worrying knee injury.

‎With Hamza Igamane only just returning from a knock that sidelined him since last month, Russell Martin’s attacking options are already limited to just Brazilian forward Danilo as another recognised striker.

‎However, speaking after the match, head coach Martin eased fans’ fears:

‎> “Cyriel is not as bad as everyone feared. Tomorrow will be too early, but we’re hopeful he can be involved on Tuesday.

‎I think everyone feared the worst with the way he went off, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it could have been. He’s a bit stiff and sore, but we’ll work hard to give him every chance to be fit for Tuesday.”

‎Rangers will be hoping Dessers is ready to lead the line as they look to secure their place in the Champions League group stage.
