Barry Ferguson Slams VAR After Controversial Celtic Equalizer in Old Firm Derby

In a dramatic Old Firm derby that ended in a 1-1 draw at Ibrox, Rangers interim manager Barry Ferguson has voiced strong criticism of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system following Celtic’s contentious equalizer by Adam Idah. The goal, initially ruled offside by the assistant referee, was overturned after a VAR review, sparking controversy and debate over the decision’s legitimacy.

Rangers took the lead just before halftime through Cyriel Dessers. However, in the second half, Celtic’s Adam Idah scored to level the match. The VAR officials determined that Daizen Maeda, involved in the play, was onside and not interfering with the goalkeeper’s ability to make a save.
