DAVID ORNSTEIN SHARED WHAT HE’S HEARD ABOUT NOTTINGHAM FOREST AMID LINKS TO THE CLUB.

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a host of players this month with fans now awaiting the first January arrival to check in on Trentside.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has wanted an attacker all month. A number of tentative links have been made with things likely to be ramped up as the window draws to a close.

Matheus Cunha has been linked with Forest. The Wolves striker is stalling over a new contract and that has opened the door to a number of clubs who like the look of the Brazilian.

Forest also like Mathys Tel. The Bayern Munich striker has now made a decision to leave the Bundesliga giants and that has alerted most Premier League outfits this month.

Another player on the radar at Forest is Yoane Wissa. The Brentford striker is unlikely to move this month but one of the best transfer journalists in the business has now delivered an update of sorts.

David Ornstein delivers Yoane Wissa updates amid Forest links

Jamie Redknapp thinks Wissa is worth £40 million. Brentford might value him even higher than that given that time is running out for the Bees to get an adequate replacement in for him this window.

Ornstein hasn’t completely ruled out some movement though. He’s now been asked for an update on the Wissa update on the latest TalkSPORT podcast and Forest might have some hope of landing the 28-year-old.

He said: “Look, in an ideal world, Brentford would keep Wissa and he’s delivering for them and that’s crucial, he’s 28 and he’s got a couple of years left on his contract. They’re wily foxes at the Gtech and they will put a price on his head that someone has to meet or he’s staying.

“Clearly, Forest didn’t meet that with £22 million, their interest remains, will they go higher? Will that entice Brentford? They’re in no rush to do it, they’re in no financial necessity to do it.

“We talk about Arsenal and Tottenham, would they look into a Wissa? I don’t know about Arsenal, I don’t think he fits their profile, will Tottenham? He’s a terrific player but of course, that’s one to keep an eye on as a player who could move before the deadline.”

Yoane Wissa stats 2024/25

Since joining Brentford for £8 million shortly after the club won promotion, Wissa has been in fine form. More recently he’s stepped into the void left by Ivan Toney seamlessly and losing him doesn’t seem plausible for the Bees during this window.

Wissa is a fine testament to Brentford’s transfer policy. They often pluck players from lesser European leagues and turn them into multi-million investments when the time comes to sell them.

Forest would dearly love to have Wissa at the City Ground. Although he’s 28, that probably means that he’s in his prime and ultimately, there would be no settling in period.

Wissa feels an unlikely signing for Forest during January. However, if the Reds can get European football ahead of Brentford, perhaps he’s one to revisit during the summer.
