Manchester City have set their sights on West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus ahead of the January transfer window, Fichajes reports.
According to the news outlet’s website [22 December], Pep Guardiola has made signing the Ghana international a priority.
City are said to be preparing to test the Hammers’ resolve with an “irresistible” offer slightly over the £66million mark as they look to turn around their flailing campaign.

West Ham are believed to be open to the idea of sanctioning a mid-season sale for the 24-year-old, with Arsenal also interested in his signature [Alex Crook], despite suggestions that his goal celebration against Brighton on Saturday [21 December] did not portray a player eager to move on from East London.
While Kudus may be tempted by the idea of playing regular Champions League football under one of the best managers of this generation, Manchester City are dreaming if they believe £66m is enough for the Irons to part ways with the forward.
The Ghanaian international would undoubtedly become an immediate first-team regular in Manchester, Guardiola has won once in his last 12 outings across all competitions, and Kudus is levels above Jeremy Doku and Savinho.However, his £85m release clause will activate at the end of the season – with Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United prepared to enter a hotly-contested race for his services, a January transfer fee would have to come close.Indeed, his performances for club and country have left a lot to be desired in comparison to his maiden year in the Premier League, but the quality is there with the potential to match, and West Ham deserve to receive an eye-watering fee for his sale.Out of all the Premier League outfits interested in his services, Liverpool are the only side who could argue he would not walk into the starting eleven, as Mohamed Salah is playing in his preferred position on the right flank, but nevertheless, the interest is there.
Whether it be in January or the summer, Kudus’ short tenure in East London may well soon end, and while the West Ham faithful will baulk at this reality, the blow will be softened should Tim Steidten reinvest the fee wisely.
