A pundit has ripped into West Ham and Julen Lopetegui for their performance in their 3-0 loss to Chelsea.
While they’ve not played particularly well in any of their games this season, their performance against Chelsea might just be the worst. They created very few clear cut chances, they got absolutely demolished in midfield, and their defence might as well have not been there.
Julen Lopetegui has been very honest in admitting that he is the one to blame for the loss, claiming that he got the set up completely wrong. Although the players do have to take responsibility too, he’s mostly right.
Unfortunately, pundits have been keen to point out just how poor the Hammers were against the Blues, with Sam Matterface tearing into the performance. “Chelsea really barely got out of first gear before they were one-nil up. West Ham United were absolutely atrocious I thought in the way that they set up.”
“I thought Julen Lopetegui would of come up with a better system to thwart the way that Chelsea wanted to play but he didn’t.”
Obviously, any new manager needs time to make things click, but the Spaniard has had a full preseason and 6 actual matches now. The fixture list hasn’t been kind to him, but he really needs to at least get the players playing as a cohesive unit.
