Paul Merson has given his verdict on Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and has also predicted how the match against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa will pan out.
The former Arsenal and Villa star believes that there will be four goals in the match at Villa Park.
So, what has Paul Merson said about Kobbie Mainoo and Aston Villa against Manchester United? Let’s take a look.
Paul Merson gives verdict on Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo
Well, Paul Merson has looking ahead to the Premier League game between Aston Villa and Manchester United this weekend.
Unai Emery’s Villa and Erik ten Hag’s United will lock horns with each other at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
Former Villa star Merson thinks that the match will end in a 2-2 draw. The Sky Sports pundit has also raved about United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The pundit has noted how good Mainoo’s goal was against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.
Merson told SportsKeeda: “Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence has been a bright spark for Manchester United.
“The lad was a bit nervous when he first came into the team, but he has really imposed himself in recent weeks and looks like a top-class talent.
“The goal he scored the other day was absolutely amazing – if Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo had scored such a goal, you wouldn’t hear the end of it.”
My View: Manchester United need to protect Kobbie Mainoo
In my opinion, the Manchester United coaching staff and hierarchy have to be careful about how they deal with Kobbie Mainoo and have to protect him.
While that is certainly very encouraging, United need to be careful that the 18-year-old midfielder does not get overhyped or is not put under too much pressure.
I think that United manager Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff have to be careful with how they deal with Mainoo, who could get a call-up to the England squad in March.
