Mark Halsey believes West Ham United and Tottenham will both be charged by the FA for failing to control their players in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Hammers lost 4-1 to their London rivals away from home and have been pushed down to 15th in the table.

One of the main talking points from the clash was Mohammed Kudus’ punch-up with some of Spurs’ players, resulting in both teams having it out with one another.

The ex-FIFA and Premier League official also thinks that Kudus will receive additional punishment from the FA for the part he played in the saga.

Writing for the Sun on Sunday (page 3 of pull-out, 20 October), Halsey shared his thoughts on the incident.
Mohammed Kudus’ red card card at Tottenham was a good use of VAR,” Halsey wrote. “Ref Andy Madley would not have seen all of the wild actions of the West Ham forward in real-time.

Kudus was rightly sent off for violent conduct after lashing out on Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr.

In fact, the Ghana international could have been sent off twice for his poor conduct where he kicked and slapped Van de Ven – before then shoving Sarr.
VAR Chris Kavanagh correctly intervened but I would question the consistency of Prem officials. Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson did something similar before the international break against Nottingham Forest and no action was taken.

“Kudus, 24, could yet face more punishment from the FA for his actions at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium but both clubs will face FA charges for failing to control their players.”

West Ham United and Julen Lopetegui need to turn things around

After losing yet another Premier League game despite coming off of a decent 4-1 win against Ipswich before the international break, things feel like they’re going from bad to worse for Julen Lopetegui.

Since he took over from David Moyes in the summer, there has been nothing but question marks surrounding the Spaniard’s future and whether he’s the right man for the job.

Granted, there’s still some gelling that needs to be done with the players and the fact that Lopetegui still needs to find his best starting XI doesn’t help matters much but, by now, things should be moving in an upward trajectory.

Jarrod Bowen has once again found himself as West Ham’s star man and has hit the ground running this season.

Without him, Lopetegui’s men would likely be even lower in the table than where they are now which would be even more of a travesty.

If things don’t turn around soon, Lopetegui’s tenure as West Ham boss could come to a rather premature end and the Hammers would find themselves back at square one, trying to rebuild their club again.

Mohammed Kudus could face double ban for attack on two Spurs stars

After his red card for violent conduct in the defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, West Ham star Mohammed Kudus is in line for a potential six-game ban according to former referee Mike Dean.

The Ghanaian forward may have given West Ham the lead in the London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, but Kudus did not even make it to the end of the game after picking up a red card in the 86th minute.

It is still not quite clear what provoked the intense reaction from Kudus, who lashed out at Micky van de Ven, striking the Spurs defender in the face.

This incident sparked chaos on the pitch, with numerous players involved. Among the fracas, Kudus also made contact with Pape Matar Sarr‘s face, too.
The West Ham man was given a yellow card by referee Andrew Madley, but this was later escalated to a straight red after VAR intervention.

Big ban incoming for Kudus

Kudus will now serve a standard three-match suspension for the red card, but this could be extended to up to six matches.

According to Mike Dean, this is exactly what should happen, and he believes Kudus should be reprimanded for the attack on van de Ven and Sarr as two separate incidents.

Dean told Sky Sports: “Hopefully with the second one the FA will then take retrospective action so he’ll get done twice in my opinion, because he’s hit two different players in the face on two occasions.”

Kudus is still a top player

He may have sullied his reputation somewhat with that incident at the weekend, but Kudus is still a brilliant player and he’s definitely the most exciting talent West Ham have in their squad. He would be a great fit for Spurs, and it’s a shame we didn’t sign him when we were looking at him last year.
