Mathys Tel and Richarlison’s strikes at either end of the second half gave Tottenham hope of salvaging something, but both were quickly met with Wolves responses with much of the damage already done
Guglielmo Vicario shockers tee up Tottenham defeat
By beating Southampton 3-1 last time out, Tottenham had ended a four-game run without victory in the league, teeing up Sunday’s match – against another relegation-threatened team – as one they could win.
However, barely two minutes into the contest, Vicario was there to give Wolves a helping hand, palming a cross unconvincingly away, and straight into the path of the left-back, who volleyed home to make it 1-0.
Vicario wasn’t done there though and gifted Wolves their second late in the first half; with another cross poorly parried and the ball pushed straight into Djed Spence, who couldn’t prevent it trickling over the line.

Vicario has already put noses out of joint in the Tottenham fanbase by riling them up after a poor Europa League display against AZ, and while was forgiven for that, there’ll be no such sentiment on Sunday.
Spurs fans haven’t held back in their criticism of Vicario after his two first-half errors made the difference in a 17th loss of the season for Spurs, with some even calling for him to be substituted in the second half.
With Antonin Kinsky – impressive on his Tottenham debut against Liverpool – sat on the bench, some fans wanted to see Vicario hooked permanently, arguing he’s part of the ‘deadwood’ holding Spurs back.
