ALAN SHEARER CRITICIZES PLAYER FOR HIS ACTIONS IN THE DEFEAT AGAINST LIVERPOOL.

Alan Shearer not impressed by Daniel Munoz in Crystal Palace loss v Liverpool

Crystal Palace remain winless in the Premier League after losing 1-0 to Liverpool on Saturday (5 October) at Selhurst Park.
Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the match inside the opening ten minutes, and Alan Shearer was not impressed with the Palace defending for the goal.
Clinton Morrison blamed Eagles defender Daniel Munoz for making a big mistake that led to the opening goal, and Shearer also feels the same way.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer said that he thought Palace were very poor defensively. He was left stunned by Munoz’s lack of awareness as Cody Gakpo delivered a fantastic low cross, and Jota was in the right place to slot home from close range.
Munoz picked up an injury during the first half, and he was taken off. He will undergo his scan today, and will miss international games for Colombia.

When you see from a different angle, great run, great play from Liverpool, what Nunez was doing, I can’t understand. Gakpo’s clearly running behind him, he’s not offside.”

Oliver Glasner is under loads of pressure

While Munoz was definitely responsible for allowing Gakpo to make the cross, Trevoh Chalobah is also guilty of ball-watching as Jota moved ahead of him and gave visitors the lead.
With that defeat, Palace are now winless in seven Premier League games, and the pressure will start to mount on Oliver Glasner if the results do not improve after the break.
There were encouraging signs for Palace. Will Hughes made a big impact in the second half, while the Eagles managed to create some very good opportunities towards the end.
Eberechi Eze found himself in a great scoring position, but he couldn’t find the net from close range. The international break has come at the best possible time for Crystal Palace, as they needed a break to disrupt the winless run, and regroup again with fresh ideas.
The Eagles will travel to City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on Monday night (21 October) after the international break.
