NEWCASTLE FANS THINK STAR IS ‘NEVER GETTING BACK IN THE TEAM’ AFTER ONE PLAYER’S PERFORMANCE AGAINST EVERTON

Everton 0-0 Newcastle: Anthony Gordon sees penalty saved by former Toffees team-mate Jordan Pickford after Abdoulaye Doucoure has goal ruled out on busy night for VAR
Everton and Newcastle had to settle for a point apiece after Saturday’s hectic Premier League clash at Goodison Park somehow ended 0-0
Everton thought that they had taken the lead when Abdoulaye Doucoure headed home in the 18th minute but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR check.

VAR intervened again before half-time when a review fouled James Tarkowski guilty of hauling Sandro Tonali to the ground inside the penalty area.
The penalty was taken by ex-Toffees star Anthony Gordon, who saw his effort saved by Jordan Pickford to the delight of the home crowd.

Everton then had a strong penalty appeal of their own turned down in the second half after Dominic Calvert-Lewin went down under pressure from Dan Burn.

Gordon could have atoned for his penalty miss late on but he squandered another golden chance after being set up by Miguel Almiron
