UNVEILING THE TRUTH: KALVIN PHILLIPS OPENS UP AFTER THE WEST HAM UNITED SAGA DURING HIS LOAN SPELL AT THE CLUB.

Kalvin Phillips makes new admission after West Ham United controversy

Kalvin Phillips has admitted he didn’t know he was being filmed when he was spotted swearing at a fan during his spell on loan at West Ham United.
The midfielder, who is currently on loan at Ipswich Town from Manchester City, had a disappointing six-month spell with the Hammers last season in David Moyes’ final months at the London Stadium.
Phillips struggled to perform on the pitch during his time with the Irons and was filmed swearing at a fan after a defeat away to Newcastle United [Whucentre, 30 March], but the Englishman has lifted the lid on the incident.
Speaking on the My Mate’s A Footballer podcast (3 October, 35:09) he said: “Nowadays in football, you can’t really do much, especially with so much media attention as well.
“It was a three-second clip and I didn’t even know he was videoing it at the time as well.”
What happened to Manchester City man Kalvin Phillips at West Ham?

Phillips’ spell with the Hammers will go down in history as one of the most disappointing loan moves in or out of the London Stadium. Having arrived with so much hope and expectation, the England international just never managed to get up and running in claret and blue.
It wasn’t exactly an easy time to come into the club with Moyes’ position unclear and a difficult run of fixtures on the horizon, but West Ham just never seemed like the right fit for the Manchester City man.

While some will suggest the supporters were too hard on the midfielder, his actions were unacceptable and really didn’t help his relationship with the fanbase. What should have been just a storm in a teacup bubbled out of control slightly.Following Phillips’ departure, Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have spent plenty of money rebuilding the Hammers’ midfield and it is safe to say that the likes of Guido Rodriguez and Carlos Soler have had difficult starts in East London.
Hopefully, both of the Irons’ new stars will get up to speed with the Premier League sooner rather than later while Phillips looks to get his career back on track at Portman Road.
