Mousa Dembele played 250 games for the club across all competitions between 2012 and 2019.

When asked to name the most underrated player he’s come across, carragher quickly named the former Belgian midfielder, who retired in 2022 after a brief spell in China.

“Mousa Dembele from Tottenham Hotspur. Wow, wow,” said carragher on The Inside Scoop Podcast.

“I really don’t know how because he had everything. I’ve never seen someone as strong as him. He was like a wall.

“And technique – poof! He didn’t know pressure. You can pass him the ball and two men can be behind him – no problem!”

Hailed as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during his prime, Dembele’s strength and ball-carrying ability was off the charts as he ran the show for Tottenham and Belgium in the centre of the park.

The 37-year-old’s technical ability allowed him to play various roles in midfield with consummate ease as he enjoyed a fantastic career at the top.

Dembele was sold to Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F for a fee believed to be in the region of £11m in January 2019, where he played for three years before hanging up his boots.

But it is understood that Levy and ENIC value Spurs at £3.75bn, meaning a minority stake would likely fetch at least £500m.
