Ange Postecoglou shares what he’s noticed about Dominic Solanke in Tottenham training

Tottenham Hotspur have been fairly busy in the summer transfer window, making several new additions to their ranks.

Spurs’ first signing of the summer was Archie Gray, one of the brightest talents in English football. The 18-year-old joined from Leeds United from £30million.
Tottenham have also signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a £65million deal that has broken the fee record for both Premier League clubs.

In addition, Spurs have re-signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig and landed Yang Min-Hyuk from FC Gangwon, while Lucas Bergvall has finally arrived from Djurgarden.

Tottenham will now be getting their Premier League campaign under way on Monday night, when they head to newly-promoted Leicester City.

Postecoglou, speaking to football.london at Tottenham’s pre-Leicester presser, revealed how Solanke has been doing so far at Hotspur Way.

Ange Postecoglou says Dominic Solanke is fitting in really well at Tottenham

Postecoglou said the 27-year-old has matched his early expectations, doing well in training and fitting in well in the Spurs dressing room.

“Thankfully it is what we expected,” said the Tottenham boss. “He is a top pro, a good guy, he has sort of settled into the dressing room really well.

“Footballing-wise you can see he has the attributes that kind of fit into what we want to do really well.

“There is still an adjustment period there as we play a little bit differently and train differently and we have seen that with every new signing that comes in.

So far he has fit in really well with the group and training. We still have a couple of sessions to go but so far, so good.”

What will Dominic Solanke bring to Tottenham?

Solanke, speaking to the Tottenham media team after he joined the club, explained what he will aim to bring to the Lilywhites.

“The style of play definitely suits me as well and I’m looking forward to gelling with everyone,” he said, as transcribed by football.london.

“I would say my attributes are movement, goals, work hard, link-up play and hopefully I can bring all that together for Tottenham.”

Meanwhile, his former boss Andoni Iraola told the Bournemouth Echo on Friday: “Everyone focuses on the goals he scores. He scores a big percentage of our goals.

“But he gives us much more than goals. He is very complete. He helps us in all the phases of the game. He would be a big miss, obviously.”

According to Seb Stafford-Bloor, speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, football insiders love Solanke’s character and personality.

“What I will say is that everyone you speak to about Dom Solanke talks about what a good personality he has and what a good character he is,” Stafford-Bloor said.

“One of the things that Postecoglou brings up time and time again when you talk to him about the players he signs is that he wants the feeling that they have enthusiasm to play for Spurs.”
