Milan have remained in contact with Tottenham to try and set up a deal for Emerson Royal, edging closer to an agreement.
The Rossoneri are looking for a new right back to bolster Paulo Fonseca’s backline, wanting a fresh option as both Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi have entered the last years of their contract, and have been keen on the Spurs man for a number of weeks now.
Milan are also seriously interested in picking up Strahinja Pavlovic from RB Salzburg and Lazar Samardzic from Udinese, needing to make some space in the midfield to welcome the latter. The goal is to try and close the gap to Inter following last season.
Milan closer to Emerson Royal

Last season, the 25-year-old Brazilian right back scored one goal across 24 appearances in all competitions, making just 11 Premier League starts.
AC Milan are intent on giving Paulo Fonseca two new defenders as soon as possible, with steps being made to sign Strahinja Pavlovic and Emerson Royal.
As reported by Milan News, the Rossoneri want to seal the deals for Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg and Emerson from Tottenham Hotspur as soon as they can so as to appease Fonseca.
With the start of the 2024/25 Serie A season fast approaching, Milan are aware that Fonseca needs some time to work with his new signings rather than suddenly having an influx of new players after the opening game against Torino on August 17.
The two players that Milan have been in the most concrete discussions for so far are Pavlovic and Emerson and there is a belief that the deals can be done quickly.
The two players have been pushing for moves to Milan but there are gaps in valuation between the clubs that need to be closed first.
The gap for Emerson is around €10m which means some proper negotiation needs to take place if the Rossoneri are to sign him. There is less of a distance with Red Bull Salzburg for Pavlovic and he could be the next man through the door after Alvaro Morata.

Tottenham and AC Milan might have finally found a compromise in negotiations for Emerson Royal despite the deal stalling in recent weeks. The Brazilian defender’s price tag ranged from €20-25 million, something AC Milan were unwilling to pay.
Emerson had set his heart on a move to San Siro, and some reports indicated the defender might have turned down other approaches, notably from Saudi Arabia. Milan have been on his trail since the season ended and may have agreed on personal terms with the defender well before they approached Spurs.
Multiple reports indicate that Tottenham did turn in two bids, but those never came close to their valuation. The North Londoners have a reputation for being stern negotiators, and they usually tend to get their price despite the time any deal takes when they are involved.
However, AC Milan might have come close to the €20 million valuation for the defender and are now close to finding an agreement with Tottenham. The final fee will be transparent in the coming days, as Emerson only wants to join the Italian giants.
