After a long period of outstanding service, the Tottenham star is now set to leave the club this summer as manager Postecoglou embarks on a major clean-up outside this transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur currently have a big gap in the transfer window with Ange Postecoglou making his mark with Ryan Sessegnon among the stars up for sale.
This is The Telegraph reporting that Tottenham are actively looking to sell Sessegnon this summer.
The north London natives have now listed a number of first-team players who could be available on the move.
Postecoglou also identified other possible targets for signing.
Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison have joined Spurs since the Australian was hired as their new manager.
But Postecoglou believes the club must also sign another centre-back.
So Tottenham are now considering a number of options as they look to raise funds.
Tottenham have signed Ryan Sessegnon in the transfer market Among those facing an uncertain future in the capital as Postecoglou oversees a major clean-up are Davinson Sanchez, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Ivan Perisic.
Harry Winks is also on his way to Leicester City.
Spurs will listen to offers for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Tottenham are also actively looking to sell Sessegnon, while Spurs want to offload the 23-year-old.
He has only made 17 Premier League appearances in 2022/23, starting just nine.
A hamstring injury ended the left-back’s campaign in February.
Sessegnon was a regular in Antonio Conte’s side before his injury.
But this defender has never been the Italian player’s number one choice.
Conte has also only started for Sessegnon in two of his three Champions League appearances, although he has been fit in six of their matches.
Why does Tottenham want to sell this defender this summer?
Postecoglou appears to agree with Conte’s view that Sessegnon will not be his first choice left-back at Tottenham.
So Spurs are now looking to sell the defender while the club can still demand a significant fee.
He will enter the final two years of his contract on July 21.
Tottenham gave Sessegnon a five-year contract when he joined Fulham in August 2019.
But the deal signed for the £25m arrival includes an option for Spurs to extend until June 2025 The addition of Sessegnon’s transfer terms also helped Fulham secure an additional £5 million.
Spurs won’t want to risk the investment disappearing completely.
So Tottenham have now put Sessegnon on their transfer list amid plans to part-fund Postecoglou’s plans.
Even though he is a relatively young gem, José Mourinho called him “absolutely fantastic” in 2019.
REPORT! AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE, THE TOTTENHAM STAR IS NOW COUNTING DAYS FOR HIS DEPARTURE.
