Fans in joyous mood as Tottenham receive timely Cristian Romero boost ahead of new season
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a significant advantage with the recent decision regarding Cristian Romero’s availability for the upcoming season. Despite his expressed eagerness to represent Argentina at the Olympic Games in Paris, Romero has been left out of the squad, a move that is likely influenced by clubs having the option to veto their players’ participation in such tournaments. This development means Romero, a crucial figure for Spurs and currently engaged in Copa America duties with Argentina, will remain fully focused on his club commitments as they prepare for the new Premier League campaign under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Romero, who previously voiced his aspiration to compete in the Olympics and potentially add a prestigious Olympic medal to his already illustrious resume, will now continue to bolster Tottenham’s defensive stability from the outset of the season. Mascherano still named many World Cup winners
Despite the Olympic games in Paris holding a football event that will run, should the player’s team reach the final, until the week before the start of the Premier League season, Romero had expressed his desire to represent his nation.
Tottenham vice-captain, Romero, explained back in March how he would ‘love’ to be given the chance to play for Argentina in the Olympics and possibly add the title of Olympian to his already impressive CV that is punctuated by his 2022 World Cup success (The Standard).
He said: “I never had the chance to be in the Olympic Games and I would love to.
“Obviously, it doesn’t depend on me, but if you want to take me I am available for the Argentine national team.
