Tottenham have begun talks to sign a ‘fantastic’ £29m defender who played at Euro 2024.
Tottenham are looking to strengthen their squad this summer and appear to have begun talks talk about a star player from Euro 2024.
Spurs want to make quick signings this summer and will keep an eye on the Euros as they look for players to impress in Germany.
Ange Postecoglou has made no secret of his desire to strengthen himself and like last summer, the Australian will be ready to push forward and finish early.
A new defender will be Postecoglou’s top priority.
And according to a report from CaughtOffside, talks have begun to sign one of Italy’s best defenders.
Tottenham begin talks to sign Riccardo Calafiori As reported by CaughtOffside, Tottenham are said to have held discussions over signing Calafiori this summer from Bologna.
Spurs are said to be one of several clubs interested in Calafiori, who has enjoyed an excellent season under Thiago Motta.
As always, Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are interested in the defender, while Chelsea and Newcastle are among those interested in England.
However, it has been suggested that Tottenham and Newcastle are the two teams that have actually held initial discussions about signing the Italian.
Bologna want around £29m for Calafiori, who had an impressive performance at this summer’s Euros as Italy beat Albania yesterday.
Hailed by Fabrizio Romano as a “fantastic” defender, Calafiori could go a long way by hosting a big Euro in Germany this summer.
Of course, Tottenham would do well to sign him at a profit here.
But Calafiori appears to have all the tools and if Tottenham are serious, he is the type of player they need to keep an eye on this summer.
