Mundo Deportivo reports that Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for Takefusa Kubo.
Spurs are keen to sign the Japan international, who has a release clause of around £50m.
Kubo has been a shining light for Real Sociedad since he left Real Madrid.
16 goals in the past two seasons have enhanced his reputation, leading to speculation that he could one day fulfill his amazing potential.
Spurs seem to believe it.
They made an offer but it would be less than his release clause.
So the race is still on, but rival clubs must decide soon whether to participate or not, as Spurs have already made the decision.
Liverpool are said to be one of those clubs.
The report here mentions them by name, as well as Manchester United.
Both have been Kubo fans for a long time, but if they want it, they will have to respond to Spurs’ offer.
SPURS OFFER FOR KUBO The main reason why Liverpool want Kubo is as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
They play the same position and Salah was 32 years old yesterday.
But Salah is still a Liverpool player.
There is no space in the squad for Kubo, especially at £50m.
Until a decision is made on Salah’s future (i.e.
his departure from the club), it’s hard to know how the Red Devils will move forward with the Sociedad star, as a matter of fact.
However, it’s not completely out of the question.
Liverpool could do with a worthy reinforcement behind Salah, if Kubo is willing to take on such a role.
He’s young so selling his future could be enough to get him to Anfield, even if it’s a difficult time.
Spurs will give him a starting role from the start.
Liverpool need to find a way to compete with that if they intend to buy Kubo.
