Heartbreak after heartbreak,he will be the only Tottenham player out the door this summer…

Tottenham midfielder Hojbjerg could be heading towards the exit door in the summer transfer window.

According to a report in the Sunday mirror 16 June, Ange Postecoglou has given the player the green light to leave this summer.

The 28-year-old could be set for a reunion with former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho who has become the new manager of Fenerbahce.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also keen to sign the Denmark international, but Mourinho wants to secure his signature as soon as possible. The Turkish giants see Hojbjerg as one of their top targets and may need to pay around £20 million to sign him.

Hojbjerg joined Spurs in the summer of 2020 and has made over 180 appearances for the north London club, scoring ten goals.

Tottenham look to offload experienced midfielder

Hojbjerg is a vastly experienced midfielder who has been a key member of the side for all these years. Last season, he made 36 appearances in the Premier League under Postecoglou.

However, Spurs are ready to undertake a major rebuilding project under the former celtic boss, and he would happily offload Hojbjerg, and reinvest the money elsewhere.

Oliver Skipp is also facing an uncertain future at Spurs and he could be offloaded in the summer. The same can be said about Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso, both have dropped down the pecking order at the north London club.

Postecoglou will be happy to give Tyrese Hall, who has emerged as a top teen talent from the academy, more opportunities. The 18-year-old is likely to replace Hojbjerg in the middle of the park and could play regularly next season.

Hojberg was Mourinho’s first signing at Tottenham. Spur paid £15M to sign him, and if they can sell him on a profit all these years, it would represent a terrific piece of business.
