Djed Spence is now one step closer to a permanent exit from Tottenham Hotspur, as Fabrizio Romano reveals Genoa have submitted a ‘formal bid’ for the full-back.
Djed Spence could be on his way out of Tottenham
Having signed for spurs two years ago, there were high hopes for spence, but the young defender has never come close to fulfilling his potential with the Lilywhites.
For reasons unknown, Spence never got a look in under Antonio Conte, and clearly ange postecoglou wasn’t keen on him, either, as the right-back was shipped out to Leeds United on loan last summer.
That loan spell didn’t go to plan, though, with Leeds sending Spence back to Spurs in January. The Englishman has spent the last six months with Genoa in Serie A, and finally appears to have found his feet.
Spence made 16 appearances for Genoa, and must have done enough to impress as the club’s CEO reportedly flew to London last week to discuss a permanent move
It is thought Spence himself is open to the idea of joining Genoa in a permanent transfer
Genoa send Spurs an official offer for Djed Spence
Now, Fabrizio Romano delivers the latest story on the matter, and it sounds like Genoa have stepped up their pursuit of the 23-year-old by submitting an official bid.
Romano tweeted: “Understand Genoa have sent formal bid to Tottenham to sign Djed Spence. Negotiations ongoing between clubs, now up to Spurs with final decision to follow soon.”

I don’t imagine we will get much money for Spence here, but once he and Emerson Royal are gone, we will likely look to sign a new right-back, which is very exciting indeed.
It’s so frustrating that Spence didn’t work out for us, but clearly something just didn’t click for him or the managers.
