TOTTENHAM STAR HAS FINALLY BREAKS SILENCE ON REAL MADRID TRANSFER RUMOURS RIGHT AFTER MADRID SUBMITS BID

Real Madrid are said to be turning to Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero as they face uncertainty over their central defensive options
Captain Nacho Fernandez could leave this summer, while Eder Militao and David Alaba are seriously injured
According to ESPN Argentina, Real Madrid have expressed interest in Romero, their camp has surveyed
The 26-year-old’s camp reportedly feel it is time to leave Spurs believing he is one of the best defenders in the world, and despite Tottenham being a top club on the rise development but he is not one of the best clubs in Europe

It would still be a huge surprise if Real Madrid spent big on a centre-back this summer, and Spurs would certainly demand a significant fee
Los Blancos are interested in signing Leny Yoro from Lille, but have placed a €40m limit on the deal and see the Frenchman as a long-term signing
Romero is expected to compete for a starting spot immediately, and that could mean Real Madrid letting one of David Alaba, Eder Militao or Antonio Rudiger leave

The 26-year-old’s current deal runs until 2027, meaning Spurs are in no rush to sell, with the north London side also knowing Madrid have money to spend.

The likes of Eder Militao and David Alaba have also been dealing with long-term injury issues, leaving the club somewhat stretched at the back.

With Nacho departing and the aforementioned pair on their returns from injury, a centre back may be top of Madrid’s shopping list for the rest of the summer.

It’s likely any potential business wouldn’t be done for definite until after the Copa America, with Romero’s Argentina kicking off the tournament on June 21.
