Cristian Romero has called Ange Postecoglou a “beauty” who influenced him after their first season together at Tottenham.
The 26-year-old Argentine is enjoying his best season for Spurs since his arrival in 2021, after showing consistency in his performances at the back.
Romero is the Premier League’s best defender with five goals and his disciplinary problems from previous seasons have been largely erased, with the exception of a red card in November against Chelsea.
Postecoglou has consistently praised Romero this season and sees him as a leader of the backline, with the Australian making him vice-captain upon his arrival last summer.
The World Cup winner is currently on international duty to help Argentina defend its Copa America title when the tournament kicks off this month in the United States.
Romero scored the winner for Angel Di Maria in Argentina’s 1-0 win over Ecuador this week and while on international duty, was asked about his first year with Postecoglou and in a system very different at Tottenham as they sit fifth on the Premier League table.
