Tottenham are leading the race to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
Eze, 25, enjoyed a phenomenal second-half of the 2023/24 season, ending the Premier League campaign on 11 goals and four assists in 27 matches. That included a run of five strikes and two assists in his final six appearances – a spree that has seen him cement his place in the England squad for Euro 2024.
His form has seen him gain interest from other Premier League clubs, including Spurs and Manchester United. Eze, who has three years left on his contract, has a £60million release clause inserted in his deal.
And The Sun reported that Tottenham is in a more favorable position to recruit Eze
Spurs are in a healthy profit and sustainable situation and could bring in Eze without having to raise capital, unlike some of their rivals such as Newcastle and Aston Villa
United may also have to sell to make any significant moves in the transfer window, which is possible given the value of their squad, but it makes the situation more difficult
Eze’s agent, CAA Base, also represents Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, Son Heung-min and James Maddison
Postecoglou is expected to want to strengthen his squad this summer, and although Eze will use a large part of his budget, the club are in a good position to make a move
for him
Speaking last month, Postecoglou said: “We definitely want new attacking players
It’s no secret that we need them
It’s also important to get transfers done as quickly as possible
” important
” Meanwhile, Palace want to keep hold of one of their star players and will not accept offers lower than his release clause as Oliver Glasner tries to improve on his positive start to life there at Selhurst Park
The Eagles have won six and drawn one of their last seven matches, a run that puts them 10th
