A top West Ham insider has revealed to Claret & Hugh that Lucas Paquetá’s FA hearing is not set in stone.
Yesterday, The Sun ran a story suggesting the date had been set for the Brazilian to answer charges related to irregular betting activity connected to yellow cards. The situation has been dragging on for more than a year, and resolution was expected early in 2025. However, the newspaper went a step further by claiming the hearing date had been confirmed, which is not the case
A top Hammers source told C&H, “It’s likely, but the date isn’t set in stone yet.”
One can only assume that means more uncertainty for Paquetá, who enjoyed his best performance in some time during West Ham’s 4-1 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday. Not only did the playmaker score the fourth goal of the game, but he was also more involved in build-up play and responded well to his initial error that led to Ipswich’s equaliser.
It can’t have been easy for Paquetá to maintain his focus with the prospect of a career-ending judgment pending if found guilty. Unfortunately, it looks as if the wait will continue for a while yet.
