HITC has been told that Newcastle plan to use the international window to check on the progress of the 20-year-old Slovenia international striker.

Newcastle were the first Premier League team to spot Sesko’s potential before he joined his current club RB Leipzig.

Sesko has enjoyed a productive season with seven goals from 11 Bundesliga starts, but his progress has been hampered by the performances of another new signing in the shape of Lois Openda. The Belgium international striker joined from Lens and has scored 23 goals in 37 appearances this season.

HITC understands that Sesko himself is considering his future and could utilise a release clause in his deal to move this summer as he is aware of interest from England.

Sesko has a clause that is understood to be worth around £45m, and ot would clearly appeal to his Premier League suitors.

Benjamin Sesko is highly rated

Newcastle are not the only Premier League side to maintain an interest in Sesko. Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are among those who have followed the young striker throughout his career.

Sesko is rated highly. Former Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell said about him in 2023: “Benjamin Sesko is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player.

“He has all the qualities to do that. He’s extremely quick, has a great jump on him and is strong in the air. Benjamin is a real goalscorer, who despite his 1.95m (6’4″) is mobile and technically strong. His abilities make him a special player with a special profile.
