Jose Mourinho explains key difference between Tottenham and Chelsea as brutal point made.

Jose Mourinho believes Tottenham Hotspur have a clear purpose under new manager Ange Postecoglou, insisting the same can’t be said for Chelsea.

Spurs secured a fifth-placed finish during Postecoglou’s first season at the helm and will be participating in the Europa League next season, which could result in the club’s long trophy wait coming to an end.

Things could have turned out differently for the Lilywhites in the top flight after going unbeaten in their first ten league matches of the campaign, with some tipping the team for the title at this stage, though Postecoglou has nonetheless helped restore a sense of stability.

The same can’t be said for Chelsea, who went on another spending spree in the transfer market yet failed to deliver an appropriate return for their excessive outlays. Making matters worse, the Blues then chose to part ways with formers Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino just as it seemed they had turned a corner.

Summing up the key difference between two of his old clubs, Mourinho began by offering TNT Sports his thoughts on Chelsea. “I have no idea. I have no idea,” said the Portuguese coach. “Tottenham, I have an idea. This is Tottenham: always fighting to be fourth, which would be amazing between the fourth, fifth and sixth. Next season Europa League. Of course, they can win it.

“They look [to have] stability, they are investing more, amazing club, amazing facilities, such a beautiful stadium, you can feel it,” added Mourinho on Spurs. “Chelsea, I really don’t know.”
